The active substance of TERBINORM spray – terbinafine – determines a wide spectrum of antifungal activity. The site of application of terbinafine is the cytoplasmic membranes of fungal cells. Terbinafine acts at the earliest stages of sterol metabolism, inhibiting squalene epoxidase, on the one hand, it inhibits the formation of the main component of the fungal cell wall – ergosterol, as a result of which the cytoplasmic membranes of fungal cells are disrupted, and on the other hand, promotes the accumulation of squalene. Thus, the effect of terbinafine on fungal cells is twofold – fungistatic and fungicidal.
