Modern broad-spectrum antimycotics based on such an active substance as terbinafine have pronounced fungistatic and fungicidal effects against dermatophytes, molds and dimorphic fungi. Terbinafine inhibits the synthesis of mycotic ergosterol, blocks the growth of fungal cells and leads to intracellular accumulation of squalene, causing the death of the fungus. In addition, terbinafine preparations exhibit antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and β-hemolytic streptococcus. Terbinafine preparations in the form of sprays have a particular advantage, which allows you to evenly distribute the antimycotic over the affected surface, including in hard-to-reach places (in the folds, between the toes). Systemic absorption of terbinafine is negligible: less than 5% of the applied dose is absorbed into the bloodstream, which determines its high safety when applied topically.
