Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is one of the most common pathological conditions accompanying abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).

The aim of the study was to optimize the treatment of anemia in women with AUB using Fersinol preparations for parenteral administration, Fersinol‑3 capsules for oral administration, as well as to determine the effectiveness and safety of this therapy.

Materials and research methods

We observed 90 patients with moderate and mild anemia against AUB: group I (30 women) received Fersinol injections for 5 days, then Fersinol‑3 in oral form — 1 capsule 2 times a day; II group of 30 patients — received Fersinol‑3 1 capsule 2 times a day; group III (comparisons) — 30 people — received a drug containing 80 mg of iron in a similar dosage form and 350 μg of folic acid, 1 tablet 1 time per day. The course of therapy was 10 days. Before and after treatment, all patients had their blood hemoglobin and ferritin levels determined.

The results of the study

As a result of the therapy, the level of hemoglobin and ferritin is significantly higher in the groups treated with Fersinol. Fersinol ampoules and Fersinol‑3 capsules have been shown to be highly effective and safe.

Conclusions

The complex composition of the drug Fersinol, taking into account the effective antianemic effect, can be considered optimal for the treatment of IDA, and is recommended as a treatment and prevention of anemia in patients with heavy menstruation, as well as various types of AUB with heavy spotting.
