The presented study analyzed morphometric and functional changes in the visual analyzer in a group of patients with VMD with a relatively early identified process and fairly high visual functions. With a slightly pronounced violation of the architectonics, according to OCT data, the activity of primarily the photopic afferent system as the most sensitive component of the visual analyzer, which reacts sharply to all kinds of trophic disturbances, noticeably decreases.

Complex treatment, including anti-ischemic, antioxidant and vitamin agents, is pathogenetically targeted, improving retinal trophism. The inclusion of drugs with lutein and zeaxanthin in the complex treatment of patients with degeneration of the macula and posterior pole has a positive effect on the functional state of the retina.

The purpose of our study was to determine the effectiveness of conservative treatment and stabilization of visual functions in patients with macular and posterior pole degeneration who received the drug Slezavit.
