Improving the effectiveness of treatment for patients with diabetic retinopathy

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most topical medical and social problems worldwide. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) occupies a special place among vascular complications of the diabetes mellitus. The search for effective pathogenetical treatment for DR stays one of the important tasks of ophthalmology. Meldonium is one of the drugs that has wide range therapeutic effects including systemic metabolic, anti-ischemic and neuroprotective actions. Ripronate inclusion in the complex treatment of patients with nonproliferative and preproliferative stages of DR has a positive effect on the clinical and functional parameters of the organ of vision.
