Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly prescribed drugs to treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system, as well as for the purpose of antiplatelet therapy. However, their use is associated with the development of side-effects, most serious of which is considered to damage the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract, including the development of ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding. Prevention of NSAID-gastropathy associated with the correct assessment of risk factors for NSAID complications, prevention and rational use of resources. To date, the most efficient strategy is the use of proton pump inhibitors.
