Cataract is a process of clouding and darkening of the lens of the eye. This disease is inextricably linked with the aging of the body, therefore the main category of patients is the elderly (90%).

A person with cataracts sees the world as if through frosted or fogged glass. It becomes more difficult to read, drive a car (especially at night), watch the interlocutor’s facial expression.

Cataracts can also develop as a secondary disease — it is influenced by heredity, trauma and inflammation, metabolic disorders, or radiation.
According to the WHO, more than 70% of the population aged over 72 years and about 20% aged 40-60 years suffer from cataracts. Cataract is considered not only as an ophthalmological problem, but also a social one.
